WELCOME TO AV NUTZ

AN ABSTRACT THOUGHT, BROUGHT TO LIFE AV Nutz started a concept of bringing together people in the Low Voltage technical fields and to combine that with like-minded people with hobbies in the motorsport field.  Anything from track-based time attacks to open desert racing to rock crawling to go karts races was included as the basis for what the club was - a place to talk about your passion with people who understand the kind of day to day job you do and what it takes to balance your job with your passion.
OUR STORY A FAMILY HISTORY OF OUR LOVE OF MOTORSPORTS We came to realize that quite a few of our AV integration customers had interests in the world of motorsports which is something that we related to.  Being from Southern California, and in close proximity to the imperial desert, my family spent a lot of time riding motorcycles, quads, and dune buggies.  My brother started riding a 50cc motorcycle at 3 years old and has he got older he became more competitive.  When he was a teenager he began racing in a series of open desert races put on by Fudd Racing.  This lead to a couple of races in Mexico - the San Felipe 250 and the Baja 500, the former of which he got first place in his class.  The transition from motorcycles to rock crawling came after an accident in Feb ‘97 that resulted in my father being in a serious accident that required rushing him to the hospital in El Centro.  This started the beginning of rock crawling era for us because it included 4-point seat belts and roll cages, i.e. it was “safer”.  Over the next 18 years, my father modified a ‘91 Jeep Wrangler YJ into a rock climbing machine with modifications that include a Dana 44 front locker, Ford 9” rear locker, Atlas 2 transfer case, SM420 transmissions, engine swap to a ‘04 Jeep 4.0L V6, and 36” tire amongst many other modifications to suspension and frame.  He has taking his Jeep all over nearly impossible trails in Superstition, Johnson Valley, and Moab. Dustin also became involved in this world of extremes purchasing a modified Toyota Land Crusier that he used until last year, when that vehicle was replaced with his custom Ultra-4 rock crawling buggy destined for the King of the Hammers race in 2016.   To have a bit more fun in the open desert my Father now owns 2 Arctic Cats Wildcats which are 1000cc side-by-side’s - with plenty of wheel travel and responsive handling these have become a go to vehicle for desert trips. When we started to have customers showing interest in this type of sport, including one that now also has a full rock crawling jeep himself, we saw that we could link the past times that we enjoy with our customers in a more connected way than previously realized.  We have customers that participate in street- track time attacks to kids in go-kart race circuits, motorcycles in the desert to full rock-crawlers, and everything in between.
“Motor racing is like one big family, ultimately, and when you come back to it, that's really what it feels like.” - Mario Andretti
